Poetry Matters

"The Good Life" a magazine in Omak, Washington, just featured a poem from GRIT, thanks to my poet friend Susan Blair. With her blessing, I'm sharing her July column "Poetry Matters" (click here, since I can't download a pdf file in this blog!) which uses "Clown Shoes" to explore what a persona poem is. Susan has also recently launched the Shrub-Steppe Poetry Journal which features poets from her region of the country.

Clancey the Clown would be thrilled to know that news of the chapbook that chronicles her life made it all the way to the west coast, along with the portrait that Della Van Farmer painted of her the night after she died.

Thanks so much, Susan, for helping us all see how poetry really does matter!
